One thing I'm missing in Alesti is keyboard navigation, so that I can let my mouse go :) Ideally some shortcuts for next/prev message, feed selection and most importantly - a button to open the original article in a new background tab!
We are currently working on keyboard support. Actually Alesti supports shortcuts even now, but it has never been announced since it is not ready for the public yet. Please check it out and let us know what you think if you want:
j - up
k - down
l - switch pane
h - select subscription/article
We know that the choice of key seems odd but there are currently problems using the arrow keys instead.

I guess it would have been what I want (the keys are not really bad I think, I'm a Vim user ;), besides, Google uses them too) if it only would work ;) In Firefox I'm getting the quick-find toolbar when I press j,k,l or h
Just disable the "Begin finding when you begin typing" in Firefox (at "Tools" --> "Options..." --> "Advanced" --> "General" --> "Accesibility", as delFUEGO pointed out) or try pressing ALT+key.

Done that. Looks nice ;) However, I would like to have a shortcut for "read next unread message", which is what has been asked for in another thread, also spanning other folders, like in Mozilla Mail&News, since without it, the interaction is rather cumbersome. Currently, I have to go down (k) and then read the message (h). When a folder is empty, I have to change panes (l), go down (k), check whether current selection is where I want it to be and then activate it (h) and change the panes again (l). On the top of that, I cannot use the mouse and keyboard at the same time, since hovering a message moves the cursor thus killing my current position, which has to be selected yet again.
Thanks for telling your first impression. I will try to improve the keyboard support in future.

of course. i wasn't providing information on my platform, since i merely wanted to know if it's working for anyone and worth messing with.
when i press any of the keys listed, nothing happens. no intended action, no searching.
i've tried four different browsers on three hosts. including windows, firefox and internet explorer.
does your comment mean that it still should work?

Not at all. I was just guessing ;)
I'm not sure if this feature is still enabled or if the keys have changed. I guess you'll have to wait fo Oliver.
